La Minerve française is a journal, the voice of the "independents", organ of the liberal party, founded shortly after the banning of Le Mercure by Benjamin Constant and a small group of former contributors to this periodical: Etienne Aignan, Evariste Dumoulin, Charles-Guillaume Etienne, Antoine Jay, Pierre-Louis Lacretelle and Pierre-François Tissot.
