MERSENNE (Marin): Harmonic questions. Dans... - Lot 24 - Vermot et Associés
MERSENNE (Marin): Harmonic questions. Dans lesquelles sont contenues plusieurs choses remarquables pour la physique, pour la morale et pour les autres sciences. Paris, Villery, 1634. Small in-8 full contemporary vellum, 4 ff. 276 pages (foxing and slight wetness on title). Very rare first edition. Marin Mersenne, also known by his Latinized patronym Marinus Mersenius, was a French religious of the Minimes order, scholar, physicist, mathematician and philosopher. He is credited with the first laws of acoustics and, along with Galileo, the first formulas for the law of falling bodies.
