JAPAN - CURIZUKA (Mrs. R.): Japanese wedding ceremonies old - Lot 264
JAPAN - CURIZUKA (Mrs. R.): Japanese wedding ceremonies old and new. Tokyo, Ogawa and Kelly Walsh, 1904. In-8 oblong Japanese-style paperback, illustrated cover (with some blemishes). First edition. Unpaginated and bound in Japanese style. This title begins with a folding color illustration on wood, followed by 41 full-page color illustrations of wedding preparations and ceremonies in various regions of Japan, and is followed by 22 pages of text in English describing the actions illustrated in the plates. Quite a rare book: OCLC does not record a single copy. Baxley's Stamps assumes that Mrs. Curizuka was responsible for printing the plates while Ogawa printed the text. All texts are in English and place names are printed in Romaji. A fine copy, despite slight flaws to the cover.
