Nasa. With the giant Saturn suspended in darkness and sheltering Cassini from the blinding glare of the sun, the spacecraft saw the rings as never before, revealing previously unknown faint rings and even catching a glimpse of its home world. This marvelous panoramic view was created by combining a total of 165 images taken by Cassini's wide-angle camera over nearly three hours on September 15, 2006. The complete mosaic consists of three rows of nine wide-angle camera prints; only part of the full mosaic is shown here. The colors of the view were created by digitally compositing ultraviolet, infrared and transparent filter images, then adjusted to resemble natural colors. 2006.period chromogenic print.
