COURTISANE - Sophie DAWES Baronne de FEUCHERES (1790-1840, British courtesan, mistress of the last of the Princes de Condé) / Autograph letter signed in the third person, 1 p in-8, Palais Bourbon, January 1, 1832, to the Marquise de Dolomieu, asking her to deliver a letter to the Queen (Marie-Amélie) (nb: Sophie had intrigued to be included in the will of the Prince de Condé, then France's leading landowner, so in 1830 she inherited a number of properties, including a pavilion in the Palais-Bourbon; the Duke died strangled in strange circumstances, hanging from the espagnolette of his bedroom window; Sophie had negotiated with the d'Orléans family for the Duc d'Aumale, son of Louis-Philippe, to be the principal heir, in return for her personal share; Sophie was suspected, but the prospect of the result of an erotic game stifled the whole affair, all the more so as this death was convenient for the d'Orléans family's business affairs, hence the importance of this letter, which proves Sophie's closeness to the Orléans family) / Enclosed: apostille signed by Prince Louis-Henri de BOURBON-CONDE (1756-1830), fragment of letter (7.5 x 10 cm), Palais-Bourbon April 24, 1825: he recommends the widow of the son of his father's milk brother, who served with great distinction in the Condé army.
