MAISON SAJOU, ouvrages de dames: rare and superb pattern for a cross-stitch tapestry, circa 18785. Size 33 x 40 cm. Very fresh. This shop, whose origins date back to 1828, sells 100% French haberdashery. After more than thirty years on rue Rambuteau, Maison Sajou moved to 74 boulevard Sébastopol in 1882. It was managed by Claude Cabin's son, joined in 1885 by his son-in-law Georges Lefèvre. The neighborhood was bustling with activity in the textile and haberdashery industries.As Léon-Paul Fargue (1876-1947) wrote of his youth in Le Piéton de Paris: "We leafed through the boulevard like an album.We knew all the stores, Cour Batave lingerie, Petits Agneaux furniture, Sajou embroiderers, Suzor bobbins...".
