This book from the "Panoramas Forces Vives" collection was produced by Jean Petit, who selected and designed the text and illustrations. Lucien Clergue's photographs were taken from 1955 to 1962 in the arenas of Nîmes, Arles, Lunel, Beaucaire, Méjanes, Châteaurenard, Marseille and Le Grau du Roi. Lucien Clergue would like to take this opportunity to thank the empresas of the arenas in the south of France who kindly allowed him to enter "the backstage drama", as well as all those involved in bullfighting: valets, underlings and maestros. Printed in France on the I.L.C. press in Paris, this work was bound by the Frères Piel in Paris (...).
