You can be sure that circumstances are not conducive to the printing of a work such as the one of which Mr Grillon has been kind enough to share a few fragments with you. Minds are occupied with more serious interests. PARIS is calm, but not cheerful. The malaise of commerce, the estrangement of wealthy consumers, the turbulence of bad heads all influence this state. Let us hope that Peace will not be disturbed, that the rumors of war, which may nonetheless arise from the circumstances, will fade away; God willing, God doing!..."
