Olympic Games/ Summer, 1900/ Gymnastics/ Vincennes Extremely rare postcard illustrated by the great Paul Merwart (1855-1902). This artist's considerable body of work also focused on sport, as demonstrated by this little-known creation: "Union des Sociétés de Gymnastique de France, 1900, Exposition Universelle, Paris-Vincennes, XXVI Fête Fédérale, Patrie-Courage-Moralité". The gymnast in uniform (cap, belt) waves the Fête flag on the lawn of the municipal track, with the decorated Eiffel track and stands clearly visible, at his feet clubs, rings, ropes and weapons.
