NASA. Extravehicular activity in Earth orbit. Astronaut Rand - Lot 229
NASA. Extravehicular activity in Earth orbit. Astronaut Randy Bresnik (near the Columbus laboratory), STS-129 Mission Specialist, participates in the mission's second extravehicular activity (EVA) session as construction and maintenance continue on the International Space Station. During the six-hour, eight-minute EVA, Bresnik and Mission Specialist Mike Foreman (out of frame) installed a grapple adapter to the orbiting rail assembly, or GATOR, on the Columbus laboratory. The GATOR contains an antenna system for ship tracking and a HAM radio antenna. They moved a floating potential measurement unit that measures electrical charges building up on the station, deployed a payload attachment system on the space side of the starboard truss segment 3, and installed a wireless video system that allows astronauts to transmit video images to the station and relay them back to Earth. November 2009. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on label on back. 20.2 x 29.6cm with margins.
