General, he fought in the Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence - Autograph letter signed "Le Duc de VILLEQUIER." VERSAILLES (78) May 3, 1778 - 1p in-8°: "It was only yesterday evening, Monsieur, that the King gave an answer, concerning the request you had made, to go to MARLI; he regards the preferences granted by the late King in these journeys, only as personal to your predecessors, to M. DE FROULAI as particularly loved by the late King, to M. DE FLEURI as Brother of M. le Duc de FLEURI. If, however, you wish to make your Court to him, not as an Ambassador (but it is permissible to use the customary term, vis à vis an excellence), as a Polisson, you will please write to M.
