Marechal PETAIN (Philippe, 1856-1951) / Original photograph showing the Marechal in Vichy inspecting Marine troops, which he signed "Ph P" in his own hand in ink (palliated due to framed display) this photo is partly laminated on a paper backing with a typed letter signed by Doctor Bernard MENETREL (1906-1947, doctor and friend of the Marechal, whose private adviser in Vichy he was), 1 page in-8 (13.5 x 19 cm, tear), headed "Le Maréchal Pétain - Chef de l'Etat - Secrétariat particulier), Vichy, November 19, 1940) - The whole is intended for Mademoiselle Suzanne Frémont in Chamalières, the envelope has been preserved with the red postal franking "Le Chef de l'Etat Français" - Doctor Ménétrel knows the "dear little one" well, as does the Maréchal: "The Marechal was very touched by your long letter, which he read in its entirety. He sends you an affectionate kiss and his photo" (this set is presented "in its original state", with the defects due to framing, exposure to light and traces of the passage of time).
