Autograph letter signed, MARINES (Val-d'Oise) July 1, 1823, to the Sub-Prefect of the Arrondissement of Pontoise: "It has been impossible for me to attend the opening of the second part of the session of the Arrondissement Council, as I would have wished. Since my arrival here I have not left my home, having one of my horses injured, by accident, and out of action for perhaps another fortnight. Independently of this obstacle, my mother is alone and suffering, and it would be painful for her to find herself in absolute isolation, which would necessarily have happened if I had left her to go to Pontoise, especially being deprived, by the lack of horses, of being able to return daily to spend a few moments with her...". 1 page in-4°.
