Cycling / Michelin / Terront / Genilloud - Lot 39
Cycling / Michelin / Terront / Genilloud MICHELIN Cycling Goose Game, 1893 Print on paper, illustrations by Genilloud 41.5 x 27.5 cm - Opened: 41.5 x 54.5 cm (weakness at center fold) 31 racing images in 60 boxes. With Terront as godfather, we can assume that the game's adventures were partly inspired by the race of the century, the Paris-Brest-Paris of 1891, in which Terront, equipped with the first removable tires, was the hero. The Michelin brothers themselves intervened in the race (it took 25 minutes to change a tire). They are replaced here by Decauville, Loisel and Lapoulu. A major and rare piece of vélocipédie, perhaps the first major Michelin advertisement (?). The manufacturer from Auvergne had organized its own Paris-Clermont race in 1892, known as "La course aux clous", or the field demonstration of the efficiency of the dismountable bicycle.
