Lithographed poster, taken from Aristide Bruant's famous novel published in "Le Journal", a grand drama in 5 acts and 9 tableaux by the prolific Breton writer Arthur Bernède (1871 Redon-1937)...circa 1909. After Poulbot (1879 in St Denis-1946). This is the third version of the advert...Did the famous printer Louis Gallice retouch the original creation, add a clown and make the sturdy wrestler good-natured? Perhaps. Arthur Bernède is also the father of Judex, Belphégor, Mandrin and other heroes.
