NASA. LARGE FORMAT. James Webb Telescope. A superb image of - Lot 351
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. James Webb Telescope. A superb image of a galaxy some 130 million light-years from Earth, combines data from the Hubble and James Webb space telescopes. This is the most distant galaxy in which Hubble has identified Cepheid variable stars. These are important milestones for measuring the expansion rate of the Universe. The distance calculated from Cepheids has been correlated with a type Ia supernova in the galaxy. Type Ia supernovae are so bright that they make it possible to measure cosmic distances far beyond the range of the Cepheids, making it possible to measure the rate of expansion of the Universe deeper in space. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin and references in the plate on the front. Legend on label on back. 40.6 x 40.6 cm with margins.
