MERCURY MISSIONS (1961-1963) Lot of 5 photographic prints from astronaut Walter Schirra's Mercury-Atlas 8 mission: - Two vintage NASA black & white prints with captions on the back, numbered 62-MA8-99 and 62-MA8-105 (20 x 25 cm): Cooper helping fellow astronaut Walter Schirra into the Mercury Sigma-7 capsule, on the day of the launch of the Mercury Atlas 8 flight, October 3, 1962: Gordon Cooper was indeed the reserve astronaut on this mission. -Vintage NASA black & white print (20 x 25 cm) captioned on the back, bearing the number 62-MA8-6: Astronaut Gordon Cooper, Walter Schirra's understudy, helped by a technician to adjust his boots. He is ready to replace his colleague on launch day, in case of problems. - Two vintage NASA-USAF black-and-white prints (20 x 25 cm) with captions on the back, bearing the numbers LOC 62-7512 and LOC 62-7388: Astronaut Gordon Cooper in spacesuit (Walter Schirra's understudy), training for the Mercury Atlas 8 flight.
