Set of 4 shots of the emergency evacuation system used in the event of a problem on firing pad 39-A. Astronaut Stuart Roosa is shown in the center of the photo (photo no. 1108-KSC-69P-40), testing an emergency cabin 2 months before the Apollo 9 flight. The "Slide Wire" of this cabin was a sliding system allowing the evacuation of a crew of 3 astronauts and 6 personnel from the rocket's umbilical tower 670 meters west of the pad, to the safety of a bunker.
NASA prints (20 x 25 cm) captioned on the back and numbered 108-KSC-69P-40, 108-KSC-69P-41, 108-KSC-69P-42, 108-KSC-69P-43.
