APOLLO MISSIONS (1967-1972) - APOLLO 16 (April 16-27, 1972) - Lot 212
APOLLO MISSIONS (1967-1972) - APOLLO 16 (April 16-27, 1972) Kennedy Space Center press card of Apollo 16 astronaut Ken Mattingly's lecture, given on January 6, 1972, under unusual conditions: indeed, the year was off to a bad start for the crew: NASA had postponed the Apollo 16 launch by a month, from March to April 1972, due to numerous problems. But there was an added worry: astronaut Charlie Duke suffered a double bout of bacterial pneumonia during the crew's return from geological training in Hawaii in December 1971. He was hospitalized for a week on January 3 at Patrick Air Force Base, near the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It was under these conditions that, on January 6, Mattingly gave a press conference at the KSC to discuss his role in the mission. Fortunately, the rest of the crew was unaffected by Duke's illness. Laminated KSC card, bearing press attribution no. 36, signed by then Security Officer Charles L. Buckley, Jr. A clip appears on the back of the card. Dimensions : 9 x 6 cm
