The study area is a mangrove-covered island south of the Cocoa Beach recreation complex, with the fill area in the lower center of the photograph on the left. The island is flooded to destroy the mosquito breeding ground. A specially equipped aircraft uses infrared film to monitor the health of the mangroves. Vintage NASA black & white print (20.5 x 25.5cm), dated June 30, 1972, captioned on the back and numbered 116-KSC 72P-305.
