Gigantic iceberg approximately the size of the state of Rhode Island, spotted by the Landsat satellite on January 31, 1977, at an altitude of 920 km. The iceberg is 74 km long, 40 km wide and 230 to 345 metres thick. This iceberg contains enough ice for the city of Washington DC to survive for five to seven thousand years, or California for 1100 years! Vintage NASA black & white print (20.5 x 25.5cm), captioned on the back and numbered 77-H-171.
