Robert WEST(active 20's - 40's, Illustrator, notably of the works of Baudelaire and Edgar Allan Poe) / "Allégorie" Original drawing, ink, ink wash and white gouache highlights, signed lower left with his monogram and dated in his own hand 1932, depicting a particularly disturbing "allegory" mixing numerous symbols: lust, alcohol, gambling, Satanism, death, with a caricature-charge of the Jewish banker (24 x 31.5 cm on bistre paper, mounted on 30 x 40 cm cardboard).
