This is a memoir of sensory hallucinations observed by the author in the desert, addressed to the Academy of Sciences in Cairo (Pierre Henri Stanislas d'Escayrac de Lauture, 1826-1868, explorer and geographer, friend of Ferdinand de Lesseps, was to die as a result of his captivity in China during the Second Opium War), followed by the Academy's report by Geoffroy-Saint-Hilaire, Milne Edwards and Duméril.
