Abraham LINCOLN(1809-1865, sixteenth President of the United States) / Photographic portrait byFREDERICin Paris, 1865 - This short-lived photographer was based at 40 rue de Bondy in Paris, in the Folies Dramatiques theater - He specialized in the sale of portraits of actresses and theater actors - The photographer probably distributed a small series of these portraits of Lincoln at the time of his assassination, which struck a chord with the French public. He was in such a hurry to print them to "stick" to current events, that he captioned them "LINCOLN"!
