Maréchal PETAIN(Philippe, 1856-1951)/ His signature, in black ink, on a postcard commemorating Colonel Doyen's defense of the Citadel at Dinant on August 15, 1914; this signature was given after the First World War during one of the many commemorations of René-Louis Doyen, born in 1860, who was a military hero, distinguishing himself not only at Dinant, but also on the Chemin des Dames, where he died on the field of honor at Berry-au-Bac on September 17, 1917 (the back of the card shows traces of an old album collage, traces of time and handling).
