Valentin KATAEV (1897-1986, Ukrainian writer of the Soviet Era) /Letter in Russian autograph signed, 2 p in-4 (2 separate sheets), Hôtel de Paris letterhead, Monte-Carlo, [April 1966], to illustrator Jean EFFEL (1908-1982, author of the animated film "La Création du Monde", highly regarded and well-known Communist activist in the USSR): The Bolshoi of Moscow has the idea of staging a ballet based on Jean Effel's creation "The Creation of the World", with Valentin Kataev writing the libretto - he would like to know his opinion on the subject and whether he could come and execute the sets in 1967/ Joint: Gala BARBISAN's translation of Valentin KATAEV's letter (1904-1982, Russian patron of the arts and salon owner, creator of the Prix Médicis), 2 pages in-8 in her own handwriting, headed to her Parisian address at 20 rue Corot (this was the Montmartre house where she held her literary salon, a house previously occupied by Suzanne Valadon and her son Maurice Utrillo, and which in 1989 became the home of Bernard Buffet) / Enclosed: The original typescript of Jean EFFEL's reply, 2 p in-4, dated April 29, 1966 (we note that Jean Effel makes a huge blunder: having misread and misunderstood Gala Barbisan's letter, he addresses himself to a "Madame Valentine Rataev").
