(Weak MP "Colonies via La Rochelle."), letter received January 1791. 2pp in-4°. "Vous recevrez par Mr ROUSSEL le net produit de vente d'une Barrique Sucre Brut et trois Tierçons Café. I am a little embarrassed to send you this letter, because I am unaware of the events that have devastated Saint Domingue. Everyone has suffered, and I hope that Peace will bring back happiness and tranquility... I expressly charge you to take the two thirds of shells, and seeds (of coffee) that I send you by the same occasion...". 2 pages in-4° + TROUBLES IN SAINT DOMINGUE. Letter A.S. "DEMANVASDARN" written IN CAYES (St Domingue) on June 28, 1803, arrived by Belle ile en mer, addressed to Mr RIVIERES Sous-Préfet in BAR SUR AUBE. 1 pages in-4°: "I have made it my duty, my dear Sir... to tell you about what interests you in this too unfortunate region. On the 8th, your mother-in-law, little aware of my misfortune and the events that have taken place since we were obliged to flee our properties to safety, arrived in good health. I am fortunate to have her at home, where she will share our misery. This is the sixth month that we've taken refuge in this town. The brigands are masters of the countryside right up to our gates... and the epidemic is wreaking havoc..."
