Cycling / Tour / Bénac / F. Pélissier Set of 2 books that plunge us into the heart of the Tour: - "Les histoires extraordinaires du Tour de France" by the famous reporter Gaston BÉNAC (1881-1968). Editions du Stade. Cover: Mab-Brunnes. 1949, 64 pages, 23.5x17. Less well known than his "Champions dans la coulisse" (1944), this work by the bard from Castelsarrasin is a gem of truculence, scoops and extrapolation, the fruit of 25 Tours followed at the heart or almost the heart of the Grand Boucle. Desgrange, Christophe, Buysse, the Pélissiers, the Maes, Magne and the radio, Vietto-Apo-Tacca and Marinelli are all mentioned. C'est dense et ça danse - "Les secrets du Sorcier de la route, Francis PELISSIER, recueillis par Robert Cransac", preface by Georges Briquet, cover by R. Rebour, 1952, 144 p., 18,5x12. Small stain on cover, spine torn. In 4th, the convicts of the road, Francis and Henri, seen as convicts by Jack de Plunkett. Another little-known gem dedicated to Henri PELISSIER (1889-1935), who inspired so many. From Francis's beginnings to his exploits as a racer and then sports director. We draw the curtain with Hugo Koblet at La Perle. "In our steel stomach, it will rust..."
