Cycling / Saint / Normandy / Time Trial Plaque from Gérard S - Lot 141
Cycling / Saint / Normandy / Time Trial Plaque from Gérard Saint's (1935-1960) following car in the 1959 Grand Prix Martini. The tall, lanky Gérard (1.92 m, 75 kg) was Jacques Anquetil's runner-up, and this spectacular wood-reinforced isorel plaque, in two parts: SAINT in the upper arc, and red MARTINI in the lower cartouche, is touching. Time has passed, but the trace of the great hope of French cycling, who died in a road accident, remains. That year, 1959, he finished 9th in his first Tour at the age of 24. Third in the Montagne, won by Bahamontes, he won the Prix de la Combativité, which is a symbol of our sale. These plaques, which allow us to follow in the wake of champions, are very rare, and this one is even rarer. A unique and particularly moving piece. Slight marks. 64 x 100 cm
