Boxing / Rocky Marciano / Déro / USA - Lot 23
Boxing / Rocky Marciano / Déro / USA Robert Décremps, alias DÉRO (1920-2000) Caricature of Rocky Marciano India ink on paper, signed, captioned 50 x 39 cm Original illustration for Pierre Cangioni's "La Fabuleuse Histoire de la Boxe" (1977). Rocky Marciano (1923-1969) dominates and crushes the city, like the heavyweights between 1952 and 1956, and like Rocky Balboa, whom he inspired. His CV (or Record) is unique: 49 fights, 49 wins, with 43 KOs. He boxed the greatest, including his idol Joe Louis. He won the title in 1952 against Jersey Joe Walcot, and defended it one last time against Archie Moore. On several occasions, he was knocked down, but always had enough spring in his step to bounce back and triumph.
