Nickel-plated steel structure with seven removable coil springs, solid handles with rounded ends. In their original box printed "Le National - Appareils pour la culture physique", accompanied by its period leaflet in oiled paper presenting the various models (Black Enamel, Nickel-plated, Hercules Force, etc.). (Wear, slight oxidation, tired box). Witness to the French physical culture of the Belle Époque, at a time when gymnastics and hygienism merged with patriotism and education of the body. This type of dumbbell illustrates the vogue for hygienic strength and national physical revival before 1914.
