Official Stade Français armband
Blue felt, "Stade Français" in red rubber letters, small official club crest, two clamps. Circa 1930
7 × 38 cm (holes)
Plunge into the heart of the "blue and red" story, a great piece of French sporting history. Founded at the Café Procope in 1883, following in the footsteps of Racing Club de France, the Stade Français has been lovingly knitted by thousands of managers and athletes in all disciplines.
This armband is a touching shortcut; who could have tightened this loop? Was it during an "À Travers Paris" relay, a rugby match or a basketball game?
The shadows of Géo Lefèvre, the Dedets, the Lesieur, the Communeau and the Mathieu jostle for position alongside Serge Saulnier and André Vernières, and it's as if Marcel Hansenne or Michel Clare were passing by. Didier Dorsemaine or Alain Icard could testify to this.
Great hours vibrate in this modest armband. From Christophe Dominici and Max Guazzini to Pascale Piquemal, current president, one single figure perhaps sums them all up: that of pioneer Henri Amand.
