Rugby / Aviation / Du Manoir / Stade Toulousain - Lot 161
Rugby / Aviation / Du Manoir / Stade Toulousain Individual replica of the Challenge Yves du Manoir trophy, presented to the Stade Toulousain players who defeated CA Bègles Bordeaux on May 14, 1995. 10 × 10 cm with base This 52ᵉ edition of the Challenge pitted players still active as coaches (Mola, Laïrle, Etcheto, C. Portolan, Lanta, Colazzo) or already remembered (Cigagna, Castaignède, Miorin, Ougier, Lacroix, Berty, Castel) against each other in Bordeaux's Parc Lescure. The prestigious Challenge, created in 1931 by Racing Club de France as a tribute to Yves du Manoir (1904-1928), has become a symbol of the "beautiful game" and fair play in French rugby union. Chased by goldsmith Jean Puiforcat (1897-1945), who also created the monumental statue of the player, this bronze model combines the athlete's face and symbolic wings, presented to the winning players, while the large trophy took pride of place in the prestige display case of the winning club. This moving souvenir, an exact replica of the Challenge with the same wooden base, is a rare collector's item full of history.
