Robert Décremps, alias DÉRO (1920-2000)
Two caricatures of René Crabos
India ink on paper, signed, captioned
50 x 39 cm
Original illustrations for "La Fabuleuse histoire du Rugby" by Henri Garcia, published by Odil in 1973.
René Crabos (1899-1964), a figure from heroic times, ¾ center, magically launched our main line in the 1920s. Captain of Les Bleus, 17 times international, he was captain and scorer when France beat Ireland in 1921 and 1923. He was president of the FFR from 1952 to 62, during a difficult period.
Albert Ferrasse (1917-2011), French champion with Agen in 1945, then referee, then omnipotent president of the FFR, is depicted on a throne, with a ball crown, a servant bringing him a ball; we get an idea of his reign.
