American Budge Patty (1924-2021) triumphed at Roland-Garros in 1950, unleashing the enthusiasm of his female fans, as witnessed by Déro at Porte d'Auteuil.
Ken Rosewall, the "big-box sweeper", considered one of the greatest and most underrated players of all time. He straddled the three eras of tennis (amateur, open, pro), winning the Davis Cup in 1953, 1955 and 1956, and 1655 of the 2282 matches he played. He won 133 titles (1949-1980) and was the only player to win the Pro Grand Slam in 1963.
