Served in America in 1782 with La Fayette. 2 LETTERS: - Autograph letter signed on his engraved letterhead "Le Général de Brigade Alexandre LAMETH, Préfet du Département des Basses-Alpes". (Vignette). DIGNE (04) 11 Frimaire An 12 (3 Dec. 1803). 3pp in-4° - to Deputy Mayor Jean RAFFIN: "You know, my dear RAFFIN, how much I regret that the fatigue of a long administration and the care of your affairs, which you had been obliged to neglect in order to look after those of your commune, forced you to ask for your replacement. You can be sure that I will not forget the zeal you have put into your duties, and the happy results that have followed. I shall always be ready to testify to the government the complete satisfaction I have had with your administration. I recently received a letter from the Minister of the Interior which seems to approve entirely the dispute I have raised concerning the bills subscribed by some inhabitants of MANOSQUE, as a guarantee for the Commune... I was going to submit my decree to the Government for a decision, although the outcome is as we wish. You will do well to have your friends in Paris act to thwart the maneuvers by which we may seek to surprise the Government's religion...". + Letter signed "Alexandre LAMETH, Préfet du département de la ROER, Membre de la Légion d'Honneur". (His letterhead, vignette), 3pp in-4°, Aix-la-Chapelle November 20, 1808. to Préfet de l'Ourthe. Concerning the fears of the Arrondissement's Entertainment Director, relative to the Privilege of Masked Balls. "From the current theatrical year, the Privileged Directors alone will have the right to give these kinds of balls throughout the city...".
