"On August 21, the Russian, Prussian and Austrian army, commanded by Emperor Alexander and the King of Prussia, had entered Saxony, and moved on Dresden; 180 to 200,000 strong... In five days' time, it saw its hopes confounded: 30,000 prisoners, 10,000 wounded in our power... There are now only 100,000 men under arms; we have lost 100 cannon, entire fleets, 1,500 artillery ammunition carts... We had 40 flags or standards. Among the prisoners were 4,000 Russians.
