NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Perhaps the most spectacular of Voyager's photos of Io is this mosaic obtained by Voyager 1 on March 5 from a distance of 400,000 kilometers. A wide variety of colors and albedo can be seen on the surface, thought to be the result of superficial deposits of various forms of sulfur and sulfur dioxide. The two great volcanoes Pele and Loki (top left) are clearly visible. 2009. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin. Legend on back label. 40.6 x 40.6 cm with margins.
