Composite collection of handwritten documents in Ottoman Turkish with copies in French of Sultan Selim III's letter to Napoleon I, Napoleon's proclamation to his troops assembled along the Niemen (June 22, 1812), one page with verses by the poet Théophile Sous un calme trompeur, le monde a mille écueils. Last pages in Greek script with an index.
Probably intended for an Ottoman diplomat in contact with France.
In-4° (23.5 cm). Approx. 430 pages, most of them numbered.
Period leather binding damaged.
