Small in-8°, perhaps with some pages missing. The incipit reads: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, the consubstantial and indivisible Trinity; By the order of Our Sovereign Most Pious and Autocratic, Great Sovereign, Our Empress Catherine Alexeyevna, of all Russia; Under the high protection of His Highness, the Most Blessed Grand Prince Peter, and his son, the Most Blessed Grand Prince Paul Petrov, of all Russia. Blessed Grand Prince Paul Petrovich; Under the guardianship of Her Highness, Grand Princess Marie Fedorovna, and the Princes and Grand Dukes Alexander Pavlovich and Constantin Pavlovich; With the blessing of the Holy Governing Synod; Has been printed this book of the spiritual alphabet in the holy typography of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, under the direction of the Synod and by the care of Archimandrite Zosime; In the year of the creation of the world 7233, and of the Incarnation of God the Word 1725, in the month of February. Beautifully bound in stamped vellum, depicting on one plate Christ emerging from a chalice surrounded by six angels, and on the other plate the Virgin and Child surrounded by cherubs. One of the two clasps is missing. Very rare edition.
