Silver vartabed stick - Lot 87
Silver vartabed stick Jadeite tau-shaped tip encircled by two gilded silver dragons, themselves coiled by silver snakes, surmounted by a crucifix. Inscriptions in Armenian: This staff offered to Meguerditch and May God bless the soul of Christ's servant. Composite work, the jadeite tau appears to be Indian, while the rest is Ottoman Armenian. 2nd half of the 19th century. H : 183 cm.
