Chalice in silver and vermeil The inscription in cursive Armenian letters at its base can be translated as follows: This chalice is offered in 1642 to the Sourp Kévork Church in Constantinople, in memory of the souls of our brothers from the village of Guedzvagna (Կըծվակնա) living and deceased. Amen. This chalice is in pure Armenian style, with a very wide pedestal. Decorated with angels in clouds. Its base is adorned with three medallions representing the Baptism the Last Supper and the Resurrection of Christ, surrounded by vine and wheat plants. The church of St. George mentioned in the inscription is located in the village of Ktsvak in Bitlis (Van). We have not identified the village mentioned in the inscription. Height: 31.5 cm.
