Pair of altar crucifixes, 1773 The crosses, in gilded silver, with three-lobed branches with cherubs' heads in relief at the ends and engraved plant decoration. On the back, a crucifix bears an Armenian inscription: ՅԻՇԱՏԱԿ Է ԽԱՉԻՍ ԿԱՐԱՊԵՏԻՆ ԿՈՂԱԿՑՈՒՆ ՀՐԱՀԱՆԻՆ ՈՐԴՈՒՆ ԳԱԲՐԵԼԻՆ ԵՒ ԸԶԴՈՒՍՏԸՐԸՆ ԵՂԻՍԻՆ Ի ԴՈՒՐՆ ՍԲ ԳԷՈՐԳԻՆ ԹՎԻՆ ՌՄԻԲ ԻՆ (This cross is in memory of Karapet, his wife Hrahan, his son Gabriel and his daughter Eghis at the gate of St. George's Church in the year 1222/1733). The other crucifix bears on the back an Ottoman inscription dated ١٧٦٠(1760) surrounded by four cabochons of turquoise and white stones. Ottoman Armenia, 18th century. Each crucifix mounted on a 19th-century foot, in silver-plated metal on a square base. H: 40 cm.
