The Four Gospels (Աւետարան), 1769 - Lot 233
The Four Gospels (Աւետարան), 1769 Constantinople, impr. Hovhannes and Hagop (Arabian), 1769. In-8° (17.5 x 12 cm), 463 pages. 20 engravings, part of which reproduces illustrations from Voskan's Amsterdam printing press (the initials of the engraver Christofell Van Sichem can be seen). Another part reproduces images from editions by Grégoire de Merzifon (Marzvanetsi). The title page of the Gospel also reproduces the frontispiece created by Grigor Marzvanetsi. Later binding in crimson velvet, decorated with a central silver plate depicting the Virgin and Child. Constantinople, 18th century.
