BRANTES-CESSAC. Jean-Girard LACUÉE, Comte de CESSAC (Lot-et-Garonne 1752-1841) Deputy in 1791, President of the National Legislative Assembly in 1792, Minister Director of War Administration 1810, Governor of the École Polytechnique 1804, Peer of France 1831 - Autograph letter signed "Le Comte de CESSAC", Paris September 3, 1815, 1 page in-4°: "I received yesterday, Mon cher de BRANTÈS (He was his Aide de Camp and brother-in-law), a letter in which the Minister of War announces that I have been retired. I am saddened to see that I have been judged incapable of rendering services to my country and my King, and that I have been forced to dissolve my military family. So, my dear Marquis, this is one less link between us; let's tighten and strengthen the remaining ones to replace this one. At the moment of our military separation, I beg you to accept my thanks for the proofs of attachment you have certainly given me as my Aide de Camp; and for the zeal, intelligence and devotion with which you have always fulfilled the missions and orders I have given you for the service of the State. Keep me your friendship and always count on the sentiments I see in you in so many other capacities."
