Duc de MONTMORENCY-LAVAL Mathieu Jean Félicité, born July 10, 1767 in Paris, where he died March 24, 1826, was a French revolutionary soldier and politician. Initially an admirer of the Philosophes, he later rallied to the Bourbon Restoration - Autograph letter signed "le Vicomte de MONTMORENCY" from ROMORENTIN, July 28, 1816. 1 page in-8° : Isn't it wrong of me, My Dear Count, to have been so long in replying to a letter I had asked you myself with so much urgency? It gave me news that was a little vague and uncertain as to what had been positively decided: But it was not your fault and I thank you infinitely for the steps you took to be fully informed. You are always a kind and obliging comrade, with whom I sincerely regret that my relations are rarer, but I would be charmed to meet again in Paris around August 15th.
