NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This superb and rare photograph of the E - Lot 70
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. This superb and rare photograph of the Earth was taken from the Apollo 13 spacecraft on its return trip. The most visible landmass includes the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. The Baja California peninsula is clearly visible. Most of the landmass is covered by a thick layer of clouds. The Apollo 13 crew consisted of astronauts James A. Lovell Jr, commander, John L. Swigert Jr, command module pilot, and Fred W. Haise Jr, lunar module pilot. The Apollo 13 mission was a historic one, marking a major incident in the Apollo program when a fuel tank in the mission's command module exploded on the way to the Moon. This incident prevented the crew from landing on the Moon, before successfully returning to Earth. April 1970. Later chromogenic print. Numbering on front. Legend on back label. 40.6 x 40.6CM with margins.
