Paul JOUVE (1878-1973) Two black panthers, 1930 Mixed media on paper mounted on cardboard Signed in red lower right, located Berlin and dated (19)30. 72 x 106 cm Historical background: - Paul Jouve spent a few days in Berlin in 1930 to sketch all the animals in the zoo, whose felines were, in his opinion, more beautiful than those in the Hamburg zoo. Exhibition: - Our work was most probably painted on the spot, and inspired the one presented at the "Group of Four" Exhibition at the Galeries Georges Petit in Paris from December 10, 1930 to January 6, 1931.
