Cycling / Centenary / Tour de France / Buysse / Souchard / A - Lot 72
Cycling / Centenary / Tour de France / Buysse / Souchard / Automoto / Saint-Etienne 1st Automoto - Tour de France - Championnat de France" lithograph poster, circa 1926. Unsigned, probably after Henri CASSARD (19th-20th c.) 116 x 79 cm Very rare poster, with inset photos of Lucien Buysse, winner of the Tour de France, and Achille Souchard, winner of the Championnat de France sur route 100 km. On the frontispiece, the historic words: "Record: 4 consecutive times - 1923-1924-1925-1926". It's a "poster to stick in your shop window" from the Guillaume et Huot workshops. Historic for the record, but also because this 20th Tour, whose centenary we're about to celebrate, is the biggest of the Grand Tours: more than 238 hours in the saddle, an average speed of 24 km/h, 41/126 finishers. Dealer details on banner: "Agent Dufour à Davayé (Saone et Loire)".
