PITRE-CHEVALIER: La Bretagne ancienne et moderne. Paris, Coquebert, s.d. (1844). Large in-8 contemporary brown half-chagrain, spine ribbed and ornamented (small 5 cm split to one jaw, freckles). First edition and 1st printing of the illustrations: chromolithograph heraldic frontispiece (here missing), steel-engraved portrait of Chateaubriand, 21 steel engravings and 12 wood-engraved plates of costumes in black, one plate of coins, 6 chromolithograph plates of coats-of-arms and 2 color maps, all hors-texte. Approx. 200 woodcut vignettes in the text.
